The Book-Buying Ban

Hi, I’m Miranda…and I’m addicted to buying books.

But, seriously.

There’s something inside of me that just wantsallthebooksrightnow.

So, instead of just pretending to do something about it and then secretly buying books and hiding the boxes from my boyfriend when I think he’s not looking…I’m actually going to fix this. Or at least detox a little bit.

The biggest problem that I have is that I just buy books all the time. Willy nilly! I see a book, I want it, I buy it. I mean, not always, but that does happen a lot.

So I’m putting myself on a special book-buying ban, of which I made up rules for myself that I AM GOING TO STICK TO.

Miranda’s Book-Buying Ban Rules:

  1. No buying Kindle books unless they are under $1.00. Anything under $1.00 is fair game, especially those that I get for free for reviewing purposes. But try not to go overboard.
  2. Actually get books from the library. The library is your friend. If you LOVE them…add them to your Christmas list so that you can have them forever and ever. But don’t waste money on it unless you have to.
  3. $50 limit on books for each month. Including shipping!
  4. Here’s how it’s going to work…On the last day of the month, you spend $50 on books. There is no “buy a book here, buy a book there.” Nope. So, all month, think of all the books you want and put them on a list. And at the end of the month…buy those books. But only $50 worth!

Just looking at all of those rules makes me sad. But I know that I MUST stick to them! Budgets are important, people. Especially when it comes to books!

As you might have already guessed…I definitely already spent twice my budget on books for this month. So this new plan is going into action starting right now. No more book purchases until September 30th!
