This Red Lipstick | NARS Audacious in “RITA”

Okay, first off before we dive into red…so y’all noticed we’ve been renovating? Well let’s not get too settled because this isn’t done yet. Let’s not cringe too much about this hideous content font, I still have to change the site lettering and a whole lot of other boring technical things like pagination, etcetera. However, thank the Lord, I’m glad that the blog layout is finally “responsive”. In planet-earth-speak that means the site adjusts to when browser windows are resized by you (test it, see that? ooohhh…*claps*) and so the layout is also, more or less, mobile and tablet ready as well. We also had to go high-resolution guyz…to keep up with the timez. I think at some point when we all start having headaches from split-size pixels someone’s gotta yell “Our eyes don’t get any sharper than that!!”. You can also probably tell I’m not quite back in the blogging saddle yet but trying to get there. At this point I’m fiddling with getting my feet into the stirrups…so that’s almost, really.

Now, about this red lipstick…it went up on Instagram first (because I didn’t realize I’d get around to tinkering with the site but I did) and it caused quite a positive commotion so I thought “This should have gone up on the blog first…” MEH. Well, let’s forget for now that it’s redundant, not everyone who reads the blog follows me on Instagram, better late than never. This is the NARS Audacious formula lipstick in the shade “Rita” which just happens to be Mom’s second name and what everyone called her back in her “bagets” day…HA. The fact that I randomly was given this in a NARS loot bag after their event made that part pretty cool. The NARS Audacious shade “Rita” is a rich red with the same rouge depth as I’d say MAC’s Russian Red but less cool, with a warmer tinge of earthiness making it a very suitable red for fair to medium skin with yellow undertones like mine. It leans towards being a brick red but doesn’t quite get there. I like that it’s sort of in between crimson and brick. It is a very wearable red with a classic creamy glide upon application and when blotted firmly with tissue sets to a dreamy, comfortable matte that doesn’t flake and lasts through 1 to 2 meals without retouching.

Hey, check it out, this next photo was taken AFTER lunch…which was gloopy carbonara pasta, grease galore. No lipliner, no retouch, not even applied with a lipbrush in the morning, just directly from the bullet and blotted once. I pressed my lips together to refresh it after eating.

Right now, NARS Audacious lipstick in “RITA” is my perfectly comfortable hassle-free creamy matte red and before putting this review up I’ve already used this lipstick about 5 or 6 times. That’s a lot and I’ve never been that keen with any red lipstick I’ve ever owned in the past. If I’m in a hurry I don’t even need lipliner to be reassured that this will stay on. As long as I’ve blotted it firmly I know it won’t migrate and make me look clown-y. It’s quite the low maintenance red lip that gets noticed every time and even if it is matte in texture my lips don’t feel worn out after. The magnetized packaging is quite a turn on as well and if you have more than one shade they stick together. I’m not 100% sure about the pricing at this very moment but I do remember it being in the range of Php1100-Php1300. I’ll edit it in once I’ve got the exact price. The local NARS boutiques I know are in Rustans Grand Mall, Glorietta Makati and I think they’re also in Rustan’s Alabang.
