HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hello, hello and a belated happy holidays to you! As lovely and enjoyable the past few weeks have been, they have been equally insane, as the holidays usually are. There was getting ready for Christmas, tree hunting, decorating, last minute shopping (I’m talking the two days before, folks, but facing the crowds and pulling it off!), cooking, toasting, and baking. Battling sicknesses left and right—including everyone in the house getting the stomach flu on Christmas day, even our guests. Recovering from said sicknesses, lack of sleep due to a non-sleeping two-year-old that won’t nap, protests bedtime, and crawls out of his crib on the reg. New Years Eve-in and making it until 12:05 a.m. and then straight to bed incase the toddler I was just talking about decided to wake up. The big kids returning home from Christmas break with their Dad and celebrating Christmas round two. Accidentally leaving Sailor’s most precious stuffed animal, “Kitty”, at the airport and having to endure two days of sadness without him until a new one arrived via Amazon Prime. A new gluten-free diet for the month of January, and now finally getting back to real life, work schedules, school schedules, upcoming travel planning, house appraisals, the list goes on and on and ON! Are you as exhausted after reading that as I am after typing it?

Truth is, as tired as I may be after all is said and done, I had a pretty good holiday break, even through all of the crazy. And, I am so incredibly thankful for all of the good, because there is SO MUCH GOOD. I am also very happy that 2014 has come to an end. That was one hell of a year. And not just for me, I have heard many, many people say that twenty-fourteen was all-around pretty shitty, challenging, and stressful. This year, however, so far, has been off to a good start—knock on wood, since we are only 6 days in, but I can just tell that this one is going to be a good one. I decided not to make any resolutions for 2015, but instead I made a list of small, realistic, obtainable goals:

- Be more patient.
- Be more present.
- Work less.
- Work more efficiently.
- Work ahead.
- Eat cleaner.
- Drink more water.
- Take my vitamins.
- Keep a better schedule.
- Sleep more.

Simple goals, that I can work towards and feel good about. Did any of you make any resolutions or goals?

I will see you back here tomorrow for week 1/52 of portraits of the kids. I have been having a hard time keeping this space updated regularly with all that is on my plate, but it’s another goal I have for the year ahead. Happy New Year to all! x
