Painting in the Morning....

I love how you can wake up one morning and have your day planed, only to have those plans change once little munchkins decide on something totally different. After breakfast on Monday, I was all set and ready for a nice little lesson on multiplying three digit numbers. Tummies were full and I knew minds would be ready for some learning....then came a simple little plea...."Can we please do some art first".....Oh man...I am a sucker when they make school requests. I want to always find that balance between child led learning and structured lessons.
I knew I didn't have an art lesson planned for the day, but my little Miss has had creativity fever lately and I really wanted to indulge her. She just can't get enough. I started to think about a few of my favorite blogs and a few inspiring posts I had read in the morning. I thought of Amy and how she recently blogged about taking time to create with your littles. I then thought of Sara and the beautiful art she creates. I was very inspired and decided to give into little Miss' request for a bit of art before math.
Although my plans were pushed back, I am thankful for the moments I was able to sit down and create with my littles. I know that this time is fleeting. Soon they won't be asking to sit and paint with Mama. I am thankful the little whisps of inspiration I received via a few of my favorite bloggy friends. I love this blogging community and how we can encourage every single day.
I am thankful for little read heads and moments to create. I am also thankful I took the time to sit and be with them...because I kid you not like an hour later I was sending them to their rooms for fighting. I am thankful I took my chance at a bit of peace, while the house was calm :)
