Dior Kingdom of Colors Collection Swatches, Review + FOTD – Spring 2015

After a not so fabulous experience with the Kingdom of Colors Eye, Lip & Face Palette I was definitely ready to dig in to the rest of the Dior Spring 2015 makeup collection that I picked up. The collection is on the large side with the general lip products, 5-Couleurs, nail polishes… and a brand new product – eye khols (the Nordstrom website says Kohl.. the box says Khol… pick your fave)!

Dior House of Greens 5-Couleurs Kingdom of Colors Eyeshadow Palette ($63.00 // Nordstrom). If you buy anything from this collection it needs to be this palette. A beautiful array of greens and silvers it’s the perfect palette for an easy green spring look or a smoked out lusty look. Starting at the top left and moving clockwise you’ll receive the following shades – a cream colored satin, a silver metallic, a deep forest green not-quite-matte, a greyed out green pearl and (in the center) an apple green pearl. The formula was wonderful on all of the shades, I had a really easy time blending them out and working them in together. This is by far one of my favorite 5-Couleur’s that Dior has ever released.

In the eye look below I began with a thin layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion. I took the Pearly Silver Eye Kohl and colored in the inner corner, smudging it out with my finger. Next I took the greyed out green pearl shade and applied it all over the lid and through the crease. The apple green pearl shade is blended into the crease and up. The silver metallic shade is at the inner corners of the eye and I used the deep forest green shade lightly at the outer-V and blending it in towards the center of the crease. I used the cream shade to blend out the crease and highlight. The eye liner is the Dior Kohl in Smoky Blue with a bit of the greyed out green pearl shade smudged underneath. The mascara is Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1.

Dior Diorshow Kohl Professional Hold & Intensity Eye Makeup ($32.00 each // Nordstrom). Of the five shades available I purchased three in 039 Pearly Silver, 289 Smoky Blue and 789 Smoky Brown. I wanted to love these. They applied so nicely, even to the waterline. The shades were pigmented and so stinking smooth! For a few hours they wore beautifully. Then around the 5/6 hour mark I looked in the mirror after using the bathroom. The Smoky Blue Kohl had migrated heavily to the lines under the inner part of my eye. It basically looked like I had two black eyes. I had a similar experience with the Smoky Brown shade but not with the Silver – perhaps because it’s lighter and I just didn’t notice it as much as the deeper colors. This product is limited edition but I would love to see it reformulated and released again. The colors and formula are nice, but they just do not wear well at all. For the record I do have oily lids, but I wear Kohls from brands from MAC to Maybelline with very little migration to no. MAC Feline always gave me problems but it would migrate at the outer part of the eye.

Dior Top Coat Eclosion Blossoming Top Coat ($28.00 // Nordstrom). This nail polish top coat has a clear base with light blue, white and yellow bar and hex glitters. The finished look reminds me of a speckled robin’s egg and does give a lovely Spring touch to a mani. The glitter wasn’t hard to work with and definitely isn’t overdone. One coat shown below over-top of OPI My Dog Sled is a Hybrid. This nail polish is limited edition.

Do you need Dior Spring? Of everything I’ve tried the one thing you do need is the House of Greens 5-Couleur. It’s pigmented and the colors are insanely gorgeous. I also usually love Dior lip products but I didn’t pick any up this round because I am still obsessed with Chanel Badine Rouge Allure Lipstick and I don’t think anything in life will be replacing it for me this Spring!

Dior Kingdom of Colors is available now at Sephora and Nordstrom.
