Maybelline The Brights Expert Wear Palette Swatches, Review + Giveaway!

Every time I go to Target I’m drawn to the makeup aisles. I know you get it. Even if you are sure there won’t be anything new and you don’t need to pick up anything you still find solace in walking around among the lipsticks, nail polishes and intense lights. On this last trip I spotted Maybelline The Brights Eyeshadow Palette in the spot where The Nudes Palette should have been. There were two left and I grabbed them both.. because GIVEAWAY.

Just like The Nudes Palette 12 eye shadows are packed in to a black plastic case with a clear window in the front. The back gives you options for looks as well as the ingredients. For the most part I found all of the shades to work fairly well. The worst ones are on the bottom row and are the first shade (a seemingly vibrant purple) and the second shade (a flat black). The purple one works a little better when used wet but tbh I wouldn’t even bother with it. It’s truly a dud.

While this palette is said to be and looks to be “Brights” it’s more of a careful girls bright palette. Subtle brights are worked in with a few neutral shades to create a pretty eclectic set of colors. Other than the two mentioned previously I found that the shades worked well and applied nicely, lasting all day over a primer.

Below the shades are swatched dry on my arm without primer:

In the eye look below I used Maybelline Creamy Beige 24hr Color Tattoo Leather as a base. I applied the Taupe shade (3rd on the top) all over the lid, the Royal Blue shade (3rd on the bottom) is at the outer V and the Lime Green shade (4th on the top) is at the inner corner. The Cream metallic shade (4th on the bottom) is in the crease to blend the shades together and also up towards the brow. I smudged a bit of the Fuchsia shade (6th on the top) under the lower lash line. The top eye liner is Maybelline Midnight Brown Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliner and the bottom eye liner is Maybelline Navy Night Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliner. For mascara I layered Milani Total Lash Cover and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes.

How would you wear the Maybelline Brights Palette?

The Maybelline Brights Expert Wear Palette retails for $9.99 and I found mine at Target. I imagine it’ll be popping up soon if it hasn’t already at drugstores nationwide.
