Art X Fashion: Delano Brown
Yesterday a few friends and I went to an art showcase for New York City based painter Delano Brown. The EXTREMELY TRENDY Lower Eastside Smart Gallery was packed with hipsters, fashion enthusiast, and I'm sure one or two art fanatics as well. Unlike most museum and gallery showings I've been to, there was more cotton than canvas hanging on the wall. The Baltimore natives signature flower designs were hand painted on all of the items on display-ranging from clothes to furniture. The 22 year old up and coming artist shows a lot of promise. Brown has already got the downtown New York City crowd buzzing, as well as popular celebrities such as Fabolous (who attended the event), Chris Brown, Future, and more who've been spotted walking around in his wearable art. The exclusive one of a kind pieces are hand painted on Balmain, Balenciaga, and many other high end designer threads, no wonder their a hit with some of the music industries most stylish male celebrities. Brown has already begun to accumulate a rather large social media following in which plenty of his fans commend him on his work. Some fans even have a permanent symbol of his hard work as he is also a prominent tattoo artist. His tattoos have depth, sharp lines, and a variety of beautiful colors that shows Brown can do more than garden portraits. Overall I respect everything that this young artist is doing, and I really enjoyed his creative take on making street wear garments beautiful again. It's only been a couple of hours, and already I'm looking forward to the next Delano Brown show.
