Friday Fitness: #RnRDC, Warmer Temps & GARMIN/Nike+ Teams Up!

Welcome to the Friday Fitness Check in!

I have had a really good week, awesome workouts, yummy foods and some awesome experiences!

Let’s get to it!

Monday: Bodypump
Tuesday: 15 minutes elliptical 5 minutes row machine 20 min strength training (Morning)
30 second workout demo with Adam Roseau (evening–more on that on Monday!)
Wednesday: 4 mile run (hello 60 degrees!)
Thursday: rest
Friday: rest (travel)
Saturday: Rock n Roll DC Half Marathon

I think I have finally decided on a training plan for my first full in November and I realize I will need to drop at least 10-15 pounds to really be in optimal shape to train (because honestly–training weight loss don’t mix!). So I recently took stock of what I was eating and it wasn’t good.

I realized that I had to make some changes. I need to start being more conscious instead of treating my food choices as non important. I’ve been very good over the past week watching every meal, every snack and ignoring the 3pm and 9pm sugar monster that wants to rear its ugly head.

I still have been lifting ALL the weights! I increased my load in Bodypump on Monday and on Tuesday I did lots of barbell squats, lunges and deadlifts. I didn’t get to Yoga this week but I have been incorporating a good amount of stretching right before bed.

Truth be told I haven’t run much since 3 weeks ago at the Princess Half Marathon. The first week was a rest week on purpose. The second week I ran a 5k but the rest of the week got away from me with the snowstorm. I managed to squeeze in 4 miles on Wednesday on mildly sore legs in the park! It was 60 degrees how could I resist?!

Just like that the Rock and Roll DC Half is upon me! I’m excited though, this will be the first family racecation. We are all leaving to get on Amtrak train Friday afternoon and we return on Sunday. We will be staying with my sister in law and my nephew so it’s a family visit too!

It’s supposed to rain lightly–I’m already having flashbacks of the absolute monsoon that was my first half marathon. Thankfully that kind of torrential rain is not predicted. The temps are going to be in the 40s which is perfect! I won’t have to wear a thousand layers like my last race.

Did you hear about the new partnership with GARMIN and Nike? Now when you run with your GARMIN you don’t have to manually enter your miles into the Nike app! The Nike app is awesome but can be a bit of a battery drain and now they sync perfectly. The fitness app geek in me is very happy! Plus I love the challenges!!
