A Day In The Life: What Happens On Posting Days

Recently I wrote a post all about the best ways to promote your content online. In it, I spoke about all the different tools you can use to promote your blog posts across the web, ranging from RSS feeds to your regular social media sites.

So this time, I wanted to give you all a little insight in the day to day life of Cat Crawford Blog. I'll take you through my last posting day step by step, to give you a better idea of how I fit my blogging life around my real life!

Monday 20th April 2015

06:15am - Wake up with a spring in my step, ready to go back to work!

06:30am - Still in bed trying to force my body out of the duvet, Monday's are hard.

06:45am - Make myself a giant bowl of cornflakes with honey and get my crap together for the day ahead, did I mention I've checked every single social media page I have at this point?

07:35am - Finally ready for work and off to the train station I go for my daily commute into Manchester.

08:00am - Scheduled post goes live whilst I'm trundling along on the train to work.

08:30am - Arrive in the office and start some sneaky social posts. I open Buffer, Bitly and my blog, convert my blog URL into a Bitly link and schedule 3 posts on Twitter using Buffer, one for 10am, one for 2pm and one for 8pm. I will sometimes check my analytics to find out my optimal sharing time, but I couldn't be bothered today. I then share my post on Pinterest, Reddit and Stumble Upon and schedule one promo post for Facebook, set for about 1pm.

09:00am - Finally start my real life job, see you in 8 1/2 hours!

5:30pm - Finish work and start to head back to the train station, I check my Instagram and Twitter and reply to any RTs and mentions.

6:30pm - Arrive home (the train was actually on time!) cook myself some food and watch a really interesting documentary on BBC iPlayer about Tom Felton and super fans!

7:30pm - Check Bloglovin on my laptop and favourite a few posts that I'll share the following day on Facebook and Twitter. Waste some time on Tumblr looking at funny Supernatural gifs.

8:30pm - Go for a run (I did the Couch to 5k Speed podcast and it nearly killed me)

9:00pm - Do the non-cardio exercises on my Blogilates calendar

10:00pm - Go to bed ready to start a brand new day tomorrow!

Like I said in my What I learned On My Blog Vacation post, I've put my self care way on top of my list, so I try and make sure I do 30-60 minutes of exercise every day to help with stress and anxiety levels.

On the weekdays, I try and keep my blogging activity to purely social sharing. My posts have already been written up and scheduled by Sunday night and go live 8am Monday, Wednesday and Friday to make sure I'm all up to date.

It's funny when I write it down, I didn't realise how much stuff I do in a day! But this just shows that it is definitely possible to run a blog and be able to fit in the stuff you love and take care of yourself. Remember, no matter what, self care comes first, blog comes second. We only get one life guys, don't put all your eggs in one online basket.
