10 Tips For a Perfect Girlsnight In

One of my absolute favorite things to do in life is having girls’ nights in with my friends. I’ll take that over going out partying any day of the week! Girls’ nights is something I try to do as much as I can, sometimes just with one sweet friends, and other times we try to gather as many girls as possible from our little group. This weekend all I have planned is going to see Fifty Shades of Grey at the movies with Fride, I can’t believe I haven’t seen it yet!! But for those of you who are planning to have girls nights with your friends, I thought I’d share my best tips. Oh, and most of these tips work perfectly if you just want a night to yourself too♥

• Cook together •

Almost every girls night in we do, starts with a little cooking session. We make a yummy dinner together, which is so cozy! Working together, then being able to sit down and enjoy the finished meal, is such a great way to kick off a fab night in. We always end up spending so much more time than necessary on the dinner making, as we’re too busy talking, hah. One time my friend Annette and I actually spent four hours chopping the veggies for our dinner!! We were just standing in the kitchen talking and sipping on wine, and time just flew by, hah. Anyway, here are some dishes I recommend to make at a girls’ night in! You can also try my serrano wrapped chicken here, and my favorite steak dinner here.

Salmon with ponzu sauce here, lowcarb pizza here, spring rolls here, wok here, mini sliders here

• Facemasks •

If this isn’t a given at girls nights in, I don’t know what is!! If you’re hosting the girls night, make sure to buy enough face masks for everyone, like the small ‘portion sized’ ones (don’t know what else to call it, hah) from The Body Shop or other brands.

• Boardgames •

My favorite part of the night!! My favorite board game is definitely Alias, I seriously end up almost peeing in my pants every single time. So freakin’ fun!! It’s also fun that you can work in teams, so it’s still social. Another one I love is Kokkelimonke, have you tried that one? Super funny! My newest favorite is actually an app; ‘Heads Up’ made by Ellen DeGeneres. You hold the phone on your forehead, and the other girls have to mime a certain word, try to explain who a celebrity is without saying the name, or other fun things you can choose from. You try to get as many correct answers as you can in one minute, and everything gets filmed from the phone you’re holding on your forehead! It’s so fun to watch the videos afterwards, especially when you’re miming giving birth, sumo wrestling and other hilarious things, hah.

• A good chic flick •

Also a given! I actually recommend ‘light’ movies where you don’t have to hear every single word, as you’ll probably still be chatting with your friends throughout the movie. The ones below are perfect!

• Nailpolish •

Continuing on the home spa-note from the face masks, be sure to bring a pretty nail polish or two as well! Do each other’s nails in new colors for a fun little activity that doesn’t require too much work.

• Dresscode: Pajama party •

This is an unwritten rule in my group of friends; We’re all wearing our sweatsuits from BikBok, hah. If you don’t have one, dress up in the cutest pajama you have!

• Craft ideas •

Sometimes it’s fun to let your creativity unfold with your friends. Look up different do it yourself-projects you can do, and make it a craft night! Amalie and I have had lots of nights in with our sewing machines making different things, and we’ve also had painting nights where we’ve bought lots of paint and a few canvases and tried to channel our inner artists. There are so many things you can do, the sky is the limit!

• Girl talks •

This one is a given, but having those funny, deep, touching and interesting conversations is the best part of any girls night! Those conversations that you wouldn’t have with anyone else in the world except from those exact girls. No topics are off the table, just let it all out! Whether you’re all left cracking up or tearing up, those conversations are gold. I guess this can be difficult with a new group of friends, but with these girls who I’ve had in my life for years, I know I could say anything in the world without being judged, and having no fear of it being repeated to others. Can you see what we’re trying to spell here by the way? Hah♥

• It’s all about the snacks •

So we’ve already covered dinner, but what about the snacks?! Snacks are maybe even more important than dinner, as it’s what you’ll be munching on all night long. The classics are of course chips, popcorn, candy and cheese crackers, but here are some other tips you might like.

• Be silly – pranks •

Don’t forget to be silly! I absolutely love pranking my friends, and I have one prank that seriously makes me crack up so bad!! I’ve done it on a few already, and we’ve all ended up laying on the floor laughing to the point where no sound comes out. I promise I’ll share it with you after the girls’ weekend at Geilo we have coming up, as I still plan to do it on a few of them, haha. You guys will love it and do it on all your friends too!! But just google different funny pranks you can do in the meantime, if you’re as childish as I am and think that’s the funniest thing in the world. Another fun thing, if you’re hosting, is to give everyone a card when the arrive, with a task they have to do throughout the night. I’ve done this before, and it was sooo funny!! At my birthday dinner, Ulrikke had to say ‘Sorry, but I didn’t like the dinner at all. It was disgusting‘. You should have seen everyone’s shocked faces, hahaha! Come up with funny things everyone has to do, and give a prize to the one who does it the best.

Do you have any other tips to add to the list?♥
