Yara’s editors note for januari: new year, new challenges

Let’s face the truth together: January lasts for at least three months. It’s freakishly long, ridiculously cold and after all that Holiday spending (and sale shopping) my bank account isn’t nearly as filled as I’d like it to be for all the summer holidays I want to plan. But still, there’s so much to be excited about right now: the ability to cocoon all weekend, wool winter coats, special winter Starbucks flavors and deep red nails on pale feet.

January also means a fresh start. Although a lot of this happens in our heads, there really is something about the first month of a new year that inspires me to brighten up my day-today life and get inspired again. I’m not trying to reinvent myself with every new year, but there is something about January hat makes me feel like I’m capable of new things. That I’m capable of moving in the right direction.

That’s not to say that you should always try to change; there is something to be said about finding peace in the now. But I do believe in evaluating the way you do things in order not to get stuck. When speaking about what resetting means for me, and specifically CHAPTER FRIDAY, I can say that this month will be about cocooning with my team and putting my finger on what exactly makes CHAPTER FRIDAY a place that you want to come back to.

What always stands out when I think about what I want for CHAPTER FRIDAY, is that it should feels real, empowering (yet soft and accessible) and inspiring. That means we’ll still lift ourselves up by reading the stories of inspiring women with creative careers. But in this new year we’ll also zoom in more on the hard working ladies that aren’t there just yet – and perhaps just lost a beloved job.

Keeping it real – and doing more in real time – also means more live updates from CHAPTER FRIDAY headquarters, like What the team wears articles (I know you guys love those!). Our bigger productions – like the Career Stories, The Desk Of and Meet The Man – are the features I’m often most proud and that really color the website. You will also find new, carefully thought out concepts that will be introduced over the course of months, like a new series that features couples that work together (so. freaking. adorable.).

If I sum it all up, CHAPTER FRIDAY is about getting a little bit closer to your happiest self every day, in terms of working and living. It really is as simple as that.
