Review: The Balm Instain Blushes

I forgot to write about these 2 blushes. I bought them when I was still a full time working mother. It means these 2 blushes have been with me for more than a year. And you know what? I haven’t used them much at all. I bought them at Sasa and I think they were RM72 each. Quite pricey for cardboard packaging.

The 2 shades I picked are different variants of pink. One is a light cool pink (Spring / Argyle, described as petal pink) while another is a darker warmer pink with slight berry undertones (Fall / Toile, described as strawberry). I will not compare these blushes with my Dior or Burberry because of the price point, but I will compare these to the Clinique Cheek Pops. These Instain blushes are rather stiff and hard. They are quite pigmented so applying it using a light fluffy blush brush gives the best result. The brush does kick up some powder, so I always tap the brush first. I find that I have to spend an extra minute blending out the blush for a seamless finish. I also need to make sure I powder my face before applying these blushes or it would be quite difficult to blend out. I wonder if my expectations are to blame. The Clinique Cheek Pops are beautiful in every way and I have a desire to pick up the 4 new shades available here (in other countries, there are 6 new shades).

I remember reading some quite positive reviews about these Instain blushes but they unfortunately don’t meet my high expectations for a blush. All blushes need to blend themselves, darnit! While the colours are very pretty, these Instain blushes could be more finely milled. That way, they could be one step closer to blending themselves. LOL
