Tuesday Talks

Tuesday Talks is a GoodReads group where a bunch of book nerds discuss bookish topics each week.

This week’s Tuesday Talk is: DNF (Did not finish) without guilt?

I can rarely not finish a book without guilt (hence the TBR pile this month is nothing but books I haven’t finished). I try not to start a book unless I know that I’m going to see it through to the end (I can be a snob like that). As always, there are some exceptions to the rules.

Longbourne. I really really really wanted to like this book. I love Jane Austen and Downton Abbey and this one was supposed to kinda a mix. It was about the staff of the Bennetts from Pride and Prejudice, but I couldn’t get past the first four pages of the main character’s grumbling about house work. Maybe I’ve put the Bennetts to high on my shelf or something, but I just wasn’t a fan.

Let the Sky Fall. Another one that I really wanted to like. I love storms and loved the premiss of this one, but the male main character’s voice rubbed me the wrong way. I do want to try to re-read it again to see if it was just me at the time because, like I said, I really wanted to like it. (and that cover! I know I hate it when someone bases a book off the cover because . . . author really didn’t have anything to do with that, but still, it really is a beautiful cover).

Ok so maybe I didn’t not finish these without guilt, but what can I say. What about you? Have you read anything that you didn’t finish without guilt?
