Rio De Janeiro Part III

The final part of photographs from our 1 month trip to Brazil. We had the best time, saw lots of interesting things and met great people. However it has been quite hard sometimes as well. I believe I have never been to a place where the difference between rich and poor is as significant as here. There’s so much to be done and apparently so little support from the government to change the situation that you feel really helpless at times.

The people in the favelas though feel different about their situation which often put a smile back on our faces. They said they liked it there because to them it feels like their neighbourhood is their family – they wouldn’t even want to swap places with the people living in 5 star hotels at Copacabana. We met up with Igor (the boy playing football in one of the pictures) a couple of times which was great. We could get an authentic inside look into peoples’ lives, trying to understand their point of view beyond what is being reported in the media.
