Sunsets in Winter

The weather is warm this week in Florida and I decided that tonight we were going to watch the sunset on the beach. We don’t typically go out on school nights, but we were passing by the beach and I had to stop. The ocean was calling my name. I needed to fill my soul with sunshine, sand, and salt air.

Children were barefoot, rocks were tossed, sand was thrown in the air. I’ll find the remnants of the trip for weeks to come in the bottom of my purse and on the floorboards of my Jeep. Children giggled and dug holes in the sand. They got dirty.

The rays of the sun peeked through the clouds and glistened the ocean below. Strands of hair glimmered. Memories were made. Bedtimes were delayed. Dinner was quick and not very healthy.

The ocean shimmered and waited anxiously for one final kiss from the sun.

As the sun and the ocean became one, the clouds were tinted with every color of the rainbow. The day was done.

About the photos above: All of the pictures in this post were taken with my Lumia 830 Windows Phone. No filters were used, there were no edits. Just the phones native camera and a watermark. I am madly addicted to my iPhone and have struggled for several weeks trying to find the #lumialove. The one that I can say for certain is that the camera is the best smart phone camera I have ever used. The pictures are so crisp and clear. The colors are true to life. When I reach for a camera, my Lumia is the first thing that I grab. Experienced photographers would probably enjoy the Lumia even more than I do because of the in-camera settings. There are enough settings to make you feel like you’re using a fancy DSLR camera. I’m excited to play around with the Lumia 830 camera a little more this week and share my favorites with you. Be sure to follow along on Instagram and Twitter – I’m using the #LumiaSwitch hashtag as part of a social media campaign I’m participating in with Lumia. The Lumia 830 was provided to me for the campaign.
