The Monthly Top Ten: My December Obsessions

Eek! I’ve been so distracted by Christmas and my poorly cat that I completely forgot it was Monthly Obsessions time. So here’s a cobbled-together-at-the-last-minute update on what I’ve been loving this December…

1. Heartburn by Nora Ephron: This is Nora Ephron’s one and only novel, and it’s absolutely magnificent. Inspired by the breakup of Ephron’s second marriage it doesn’t sound like it would be a ball of laughs, but somehow the legendary screenwriter/ producer/director finds humour in her husbands affair. You must read Heartburn if you haven’t already – it’s so, SO good!

2. Starbucks Christmas Blend: My mum always buys the Starbucks Christmas blend to drink over the holidays, and this year we finished the spicy and sweet coffee in record time. Cut to an emergency Starbucks visit on the 27th to buy more bags in the 2-for-1 sale…

3. Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules: To be honest, I have no idea what these Elemis skin capsules are supposed to do, or why I need them, but I received them as a gift and love applying them morning and night before moisturiser. They’re definitely a luxury, rather than a necessity, so I’ll enjoy using them while I can.

4. Boden Slippers: These furry Boden slippers were at the top of my Christmas list, this year, and luckily my brother ordered a pair before they sold out. Here’s hoping Boden have another batch on order, because I know a lot of ladies desperately want a pair too!

5. Chanel Tenderly Nail Polish: I first clocked eyes on Chanel’s “Tenderly” nail polish at the Spring/Summer 2015 press day, and it was love at first sight. Just before Christmas I received a bottle (along with the sliver/green “Paradisio”) and I’ve been wearing it 24/7. You can currently purchase the new shades at Nordstrom, and they’ll be released across the UK and Europe shortly.

FYI these are @chanelofficial’s new nail colours for Spring 2015. I can’t wait to wear them. Which is your favourite? #nails #chanel #bbloggers

6. Terry’s Chocolate Orange: It wouldn’t be Christmas without a Terry’s Chocolate Orange now, would it? I’ve eaten way too many of these babies this month (I blame you, Karen) and definitely need to go cold turkey in 2015.

7. The Nutcracker: Clinique invited me to the opening night of The English National Ballet’s Nutcracker, in early December, and it was the most magical evening. If you have a ticket for one of the January performances you’re in for a treat – it’s absolutely beautiful!

8. Mulberry Blossom Tote: The team at Mulberry very kindly sent me a Blossom tote (£495) in late-November, and it’s been on my arm ever since. It goes with just about everything and is roomy enough for all my essential (and non-essential) items.

9. Emily Fruit Crisps: Before my chocolate orange addiction kicked in I’d been snacking on Emily Fruit Crisps, which come in three delicious flavours: apple, pineapple and banana. They’re vacuum cooked, rather than dried, so they remain crunchy and flavoursome.

10. Jo Malone London Deluxe Diffuser: The Jo Malone London My Wanderlust by Charlotte Stockdale collection launches in January, and I’ve been lucky enough to sample the Lime Basil & Mandarin Deluxe Diffuser. It’s one of my favourite Jo Malone scents, but feels lighter and fruiter than the candle and cologne because the scent is dispersed slowly.

Now it’s your turn, what are your December obsessions? Leave a comment and let me know. And, of course… HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
