Monday Mix Up

Today's Mix Up post features three beautifully elegant Danish brands. The first is Woud, a new discovery promising designs that radiate "love at first sight” through colours, textiles, wood and aesthetics. Admittedly my heart started racing as soon as I took in the range of stunning products. With the perfect combination of form and function, Woud strives to add a touch of innovation while staying true to the simplicity anchored in their Nordic design heritage. With the launch currently underway, Woud will be presenting their new collection at the upcoming design fairs in Copenhagen and Stockholm. The well-loved and always inspiring Danish brand House Doctor have launched their Everyday Collection for 2015. Secret Signatures is an informal take on Scandinavian design, with a calming and subdued colour palette featuring hues of green and grey. A combination of sculptural details, offbeat art objects and vintage references, this looks like one of their best yet! Check out the catalogue here.

I've been admiring the Danish brand GamFratesi for some time. A visit to Cult Design late last year sealed the deal when I saw (and tested) their Beetle Chair. Manufactured by Danish company Gubi, GamFratesi takes their inspiration from both the anatomy and aesthetic of the beetle, reinterpreting the beetle’s hard and characteristic shell and structure in a chair that, like an actual beetle, has a hard exterior and a soft interior. Timeless and extremely conformable, the chair is fully upholstered in Kvadrat fabric with leather piping detail. I've also been itching to share the beautiful Verandah Restaurant in Copenhagen with you and would love to one day visit it in person. Designed by GamFratesi, it features both the Beetle Chair and Beetle Stool.

It's hard to choose, but my other pick from GamFratesi would have to be the Volume lamp, manufactured by Danish lighting company Lightyears. A small table lamp that takes inspiration from the buttons on the old stereo amplifiers, the intensity of the light can be increased or decreased by a simple rotation of the hand on the shade. Oh how I would love one of these for my office desk or String shelf!
