Union Atelier | Sculptor Barber

Union Atelier is a design studio based in Taiwan. Working across a broad range of design projects including branding, products, graphic design and visual merchandising, it was one of their interior projects that recently caught my eye. While there are a few clues pointing in the direction of it being a hair salon, the huge space and table area left me wondering. After getting in touch with the designers, I discovered the idea behind the concept. A collaboration between Union Atelier and a Taiwanese contemporary artist Chou Shih Hsiung, Sculptor Barber in fact comprises a barber service, contemporary art works, furniture and home accessories.

Wanting to create a unique space with a modern aesthetic and masculine edge, Union Atelier have hit the mark. I love the white and bright open plan design, oversized plants and statement lighting. The neon wall art which adds a playful touch, while dark wood and leather adds further warmth and texture. I'd happily have my hair attended to in a place like this!
