Christmas Decorating Tips from a Wardrobe Stylist

I interrupt this wardrobe fashion blog for an important message. I’ve temporarily lost my inner fashioista. Yes, it’s true. From time to time it happens. Not often but …………. it happens. As a fellow parent and US citizen, the tragedy that occurred in Newtown Connecticut has saddened me in such a way that I simply could not muster up the enthusiasm to style and share looks with you. Instead, Harry Conick Jr sweetly sang Christmas songs as I peacefully placed tranquil aqua, lime and violet decor throughout my home. Spending quite time reflecting upon and appreciating all that I am blessed with in my life and pray for those who are suffering was the perfect way to spend this chilly winter day. In place of wardrobe styling tips I hope you find something within my Christmas styling that brings you an idea, peace and/or joy.

Stylist Tip :: Christmas is lovely in icey aquas, lime and purples. Dressing up your home for the holidays can be made simple yet chic with inexpensive ribbons, beads and baubles from your local thrift, big box or art stores. Tie colorful ribbon around candle sticks, lamps, planters, tree limbs and anything else that stands still long enough to tie a bow on it. (Cats do not like this. ) Fill glass containers of varying heights and shapes with water and floating candles, glass marbles, strands of beads or balls of twine, twigs or yarn. Add funky and free texture with found twigs, leaves, dried flowers and feathers. Hang home-made candy or popcorn necklaces for an edible element. Stick to your theme, add tons of inexpensive detail and texture and your decor will be the bell of your block.
