Christmas Markets at Winchester

Winchester is probably only about a 20 minute drive from our house. However we never seem to visit and I think the last time I visited was back in 2012. How crazy is that? With a free day, we decided to take a trip to the city as we'd heard it was very festive and I desperately wanted to get into the Christmas spirit. I'd forgotten how pretty Winchester is, full of pretty historic buildings and it almost has this old vibe to it, which I just love about places where everywhere is mostly modern.

We had a mooch around the shops, and had some lunch before walking round the Christmas market at The Cathedral. Full of stalls selling Christmas gifts from cheese, wine, to tree decorations, to handbags. There was also a nativity scene, where you could have a photo opportunity with a Mary & Joesph statue. I felt a nativity selfie was taking things way too far though. With Christmas music blaring and the smell of mulled wine in the air, it was definitely somewhere you couldn't help but feel christmassy.

There was also an ice skating rink at the Cathedral, seeing as I can barely walk without injuring myself, ice skating is never on the agenda for me (even if Harry Styles wanted to go with me) so we passed on that. After looking round the market and having to be dragged away from the crepe stall... hmmm nutella. Outfit wise, I went very casual, ripped jeans, leather jacket (yep still no luck on the winter coat front) and new leopard print plimsolls from Primark. Henry said to me 'are you seriously going to wear those out?' RUDE.

I feel very festive after our day in Winchester and have made a vow to visit more often :) it's always lovely finding places that are on your doorstep! So tell me this Sunday, what do you do to get into the Christmas spirit?
