GREENS | SAN FRANCISCO

Last but definitely not least on the list of San Francisco travel posts – Greens Restaurant. This spot had it all, a great vegetarian menu that focused on real ingredients, booze and a VIEW. Oh the view, I could have just stared out watching the light dwindle for hours. Well, I kind of did. And it was accompanied by Matt, wine and delicious food. I absolutely loved that from our dinner table we could see the golden gate bridge – which we had just walked across earlier that afternoon.

As we walked to the restaurant along the marina, toward a large industrial building with the words FORT MASON on the side, I commented to Matt how I wondered if it was abandoned or if they used the building for anything these days. I thought about how interesting it would be to explore it. I stopped thinking about it as we continued walking - attempting to read the map and find the address for the restaurant. When we found our destination in a small maze of buildings on the marina and I got a peek of the view inside the restaurant, I belatedly realized that in our focus on finding the address, we had doubled back and were now inside the Fort Mason building I had admired! Turns out the ex US army post now houses many different businesses, including a vegetarian restaurant that has been around since 1979. Impressive, right? It all made the evening that much special, celebrating my 30th birthday – in good company.
