BEAUTY: REVLON NAIL ART

When it comes to nails, I prefer to treat myself and often book manicure appointments every few weeks. Although it is so much easier to go to the salon, it's not exactly the smartest plan for my banking account. With that said, I am doing my best to re-create my favorite beauty looks at-home and plan to dedicate the weekend for applying a fresh manicure.

Thanks to Revlon, I've had fun playing around with a few of their new fall polishes that include deep crimsons, navy and gilded gold hues. It's easy to paint on a fresh coat of polish, but I've also been trying out new designs and adding hints of glitter for a more playful look. For inspiration, I turn to Pinterest -- even though mine never turn out quite as perfect.

This upcoming week is going to be kind of insane...with wedding vendor meetings booked in the early morning, client work by day and fashion events every night. I like to keep my mani as professional as possible, while still showing my creative side. I already have most of my outfits planned for the week {it's a life saver when you have multiple events to attend}, which made it easy to pick the colors for my mani. I wanted something dark with a touch of shine.

It is so easy to get this look. First, pick your polish. I used a gorgeous deep midnight blue shade in 'Urban' for the first coat. Revlon's polish goes on so easily and isn't too thin, which means one coat will do the trick. Next, I added a touch of sparkle with a gold glitter enamel in 'Hearts of Gold FX.' The gold flecks are very subtle and give off the right amount of shine. I also played around with Revlon's Nail Art Expressionist dual polish in 'Vincent Van Gold.' I love the super fine brush, which makes it easy to add designs. Trust me, if I can use it -- anyone can. And Voila!

Today, I'll sport this dark and sparkly mani with my favorite black denim and a soft blouse for a morning of meetings and afternoon in the office. By Saturday, I may be completely exhausted after running around during all of the fashion shows for Kansas City Fashion Week. I plan to wear a black lace dress with my trusty heels for working the shows.

Do you ever get creative with your mani's? I'd love if you could share any inspiration or your own nail creations. Tweet or Instagram your nails with the hashtag #colorcloset.
