When my husband and I got engaged we received a lot of advice pertaining to the wedding. Some of it was general (e.g., set a realistic budget, avoid a long engagement) and some very specific (have round tables rather than long, have a sit down dinner not buffet). But at the end of the day the things that mattered and were appreciated were the things that were personal. Our goal was to have a day that reflected us as a couple in which our friends and family would have an amazing time and I believe we accomplished that! From the beautiful location that practically none of our guests had heard of before, our guests gushed about how “us” the wedding was and that was truly an awesome feeling. Of course we couldn’t have done it all without the help from our families. And my advice to brides planning their weddings now is stress less over the basic stuff, pick your battles, and put your stamp on your day because it will go by in a flash and it’s the special things you will remember.
