Current Evening Skincare Routine

I am in no way an expert when it comes to skin but often get asked about what skincare I use, and what order I use products in etc. Here's a quick rundown of what I am currently (I stress currently) using in the evenings as part of my skincare routine...

I love skincare, maybe a bit too much. There, I said it. I honestly believe that if you start using a proper routine to remove your make up and take care of your skin it will not only look amazing but your make up will too. You only get one face, and you need to take proper care of it, seems obvious, but it's true. (Don't get me started on using face wipes to remove your make up, its NOT proper cleansing and I know some people have strong feelings about this and feel that wipes are fine for them and that's completely their choice, but in my opinion face wipes are for quick fixes and when you are completely drunk/tired/lazy and cannot be bothered to do a proper cleanse. Even then, I try to wash my face properly. Check out skincare guru Caroline Hirons views on this for more info, her videos on Youtube are great) Ultimately if you spend time putting make up on, I feel you owe it to your skin to spend time taking it off. It can be a faff, but I think it's worth it and pays off in the long run.

Here are the products I am currently using to keep my skin looking and feeling its best (I have pretty dehydrated skin so these products may not be suitable for everyone).
First up in the evenings I like to remove my make up with a hot flannel or muslin cloth using the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. This amazing smelling balm quickly turns oil like on the skin when rubbed on, you only need a little amount (about a finger scoop full) to cover your face before removing with a hot flannel. This leaves your skin feeling great as the warm water opens up pores, removes all traces of the oil and gives your skin a bit of an exfoliation. I buy cheap flannels and use a fresh one everyday.
Then I follow with a spritz of Vitamin E face mist from The Body Shop before applying serum. Serum is an important step in treating your skin condition, whatever it may be, I am using this Aqualia Thermal one by Vichy as it contains hyluronic acid to help my skin retain moisture. I then use a facial oil and try to give my face a quick massage as I apply it, the Skinesis Overnight Facial by Sarah Chapman is pricey but really does the trick, my skin always feel smooth and amazing the next day, you only need the tiniest amount too. One of the reasons skin looks great after a facial is because the therapist usually spends time really massaging the skin, it makes a difference I think to how your face looks and feels and only takes a couple of minutes (if you want to really go for it check out Lisa Eldridges facial massage tutorial to show you how she does it, and her skin is amazing). I wait for this to sink in and apply eye cream, I'm currently using this Miracle Ainti Ageing one by Garnier, before layering on some Vitamin E Night Cream by The Body Shop. Sometimes I will switch it up and use either of the oils pictured below, the Sanctuary Therapist's Secret Facial Oil or Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate instead of the Sarah Chapman one, and twice a week I will use one of Nip and Fab's Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads which again contain glycolic acid to resurface, brighten and refresh my skin and hyluronic acid to moisturise. Rather than using a scrub with grains and particles in, which irritate my skin, I much prefer these. So that's it for my current evening skincare loves. What are some of your favourite skincare saviours?
