Go Orange

Halloween is right around the corner, and a splash of festive color is a great complement to any look. When I think of this time of year, my mind jumps to orange. You don't have to be in a costume to be in season for Halloween, but a little color will definitely help you embrace the season.
I might be a little biased to orange because I'm a Syracuse student, but so be it. It's a great color during this time of year. It matches the leaves, pumpkins and it's over all a fall color. You don't have to be dressed in the brightest shade - believe me, I won't be - but a subtle, burnt orange is a great shade on anyone.
Small doses of orange in your outfits is what you should aim for. Whether it be orange flats or heels, a scarf or an orange-toned clutch, small accents speak volumes. All you need to get by and partake in the trend is a little pop of color. Orange isn't necessarily a go-to color for every day (unless you are a Syracuse student like myself), so embrace it while it's festive and stylish.
Some of you may find this challenging, myself included. I've transitioned to a greyscale wardrobe for fall, so trying to go back to colorful ensembles has presented itself as a task. But, like I said, small pieces are what you should be implementing in your wardrobe. Shoes and accessories are key! Start small, and work your way to orange sweaters, pants and coats if you're loving the look and feeling extra daring. You won't get to that point if you don't try, so be sure to give the festive look a fair shot.
Perhaps citing examples of outfits will make warming up to orange a bit easier. The most simple fall outfit includes boyfriend jeans, a graphic t-shirt, a blazer and booties. Imagine this outfit to be compiled of neutral pieces. Dark wash jeans, a grey tee and black suede booties. Throw some minimal accessories in there, too. Top it off with an orange bag or clutch to make a statement. Say, "I'm taking advantage of fall colors," with a subtle splash. If you prefer to dress up, throw on a dress and a coat - neutrals, of course - with a simple pair of burnt orange heels. That was easy, wasn't it? The color isn't too much, but it stands out. There are so many different ways to add a little bit of orange to your outfits, and in just about any shade. It's truly a look for everyone.
Getting away from a neutrals-only style can be beneficial for us. I'm very stubborn when it comes to changing my look, especially when it reflects what's "in", but sacrificing those small details to look festive is fun. You can be stylish and make some changes to reflect the season you're in. After all, fall is known for fun decorations and wow-worthy foliage, so you should mix up your style and go-to colors as well.
It will only be fall for so long, so take advantage of appropriate colors while you can. It may be snowing sooner than we think, especially in Syracuse, NY... Woohoo. Plus, it's almost Halloween and you should try and embody it in your style a little. I'm not asking for an outrageous costume, a little color will do.
