Bonjour
Bonjour, old friends! It’s been quite some time. Three months to be exact. Sigh……..where do I begin. I’ve had a lot going on in the last few months. Those of you who’ve been reading the blog a while know that my job can get pretty busy at certain times of the year, but over the last couple years, work has gone from seasonally busy to year round CRAZY! And, I’ll be totally honest — the stress of trying to manage my blog, while writing for Fearless Fashionista, and working full time just wore me down. Not to mention, I had been very unhappy with my job for quite some time…I’d been busting my buns and seemingly getting nowhere…which is part of the reason I clung to the blog for fulfillment (and possibly an escape from my 9 to 5 9!).
Well, fast forward to today, and things have changed for the better. First of all, I got a promotion at my job and moved into a new department that’s a MUCH better fit for my long term goals. I’m feeling challenged professionally and creatively, and I’m loving my new role. The change is long overdue, but nonetheless, I am happy and so excited for what’s to come for me professionally. Buuuuuut, what’s been great for me professionally has come at the detriment of the blog. My long hours have only gotten longer, and I sign off work every day mentally drained (in a good way!). Seriously, all I wanna do when I get off is eat and watch TV. Sadly, I haven’t even been to the gym since December (BAAAAAAAD!!).
In other news, if you follow me on Instagram, you know we’ve also had a new addition to our family — a cuddly red shiba inu puppy named Nami (if you’re obsessed with puppy pics, you must follow her on Instagram, too!). (hahaha…no, not that kind of new addition!)
So, here’s the thing, instead of spending all my “free time” tethered to my laptop, I have enjoyed spending time with Fab and Nami just chillin. Seriously, before I left for LA in December, Toshe and I shot several outfits (this was one of them) and I’ve just been sitting on them. But, every time I pick up my laptop to write, nothing comes out. And as I sit here writing, it occurred to me that I’m just scared. I’ve never been one to do anything half-assed. Seriously, I give my all to everythingI do, and I’m scared to disappoint myself if I can’t give as much time as I used to for this hobby. And, at the same time, I’m also scared that once I get started again I won’t be able to set limits for myself leading to yet another burnout…so the safe and easy thing to do is to just walk away completely…but I’m scared to do that too, because what if that’s a mistake.
So, who knows…this may or may not be my last blog post. In an effort to not put any pressure on myself either way, I’m just going to go with the flow and write when (and if) the spirit moves me.
