The best mascara I've tried in years! Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara review

Generally I really rate a lot of 'drugstore' mascaras, and I don't think you necessarily need to spend a lot on a good one, the problem is more the trial and error you tend to go through to find the one that suits your lashes and the look you want - lengthened, volumised, defined etc. Plenty of times I've bought a high end mascara and have been left disappointed, as I have very short stumpy lashes, and some mascaras just can't do much for them. But, I'm pleased to say that the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara has been far from disappointing - it addresses all of my lash concerns and gives my feeble little hairs some serious va-va-voom!
If I had to sum this review up in one line, I'd say - great mascara, stupid name! The name really does bug me, it just seems so irrelevant? I know it's just trying to be attention grabbing and a little tongue in cheek, but I don't know, you wouldn't find me recommending this mascara to my Mum for example - even though I think it's really amazing - it could open the door to an awkward conversation that I really wouldn't want to have!
This mascara boasts some pretty big claims right on the box in terms of curl, length and volume. I'm not sure how they work out 1,944% more volume, but as for the other results, in my own experience with this mascara, I do have to agree.

Stupid name aside, this is the best mascara I've tried in a very long time. I often moan about my short and stumpy lashes, and it means that while everyone else will be raving about the newest mascara that curls your lashes right from the brush, I'm left wondering why it doesn't work for me. With some products, they really do depend on you having quite nice lashes to begin with - my eyes however present more of a challenge, but it's one the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara can stand up to.
The mascara's packed with lash boosting collagen, and it's also equiped with a super-sized, hourglass shaped brush to help work its magic. On application it immediately and very visibly lengthens my lashes - there's no need for applying a coat and waiting around for layering, it's a mascara that I can literally throw on with very little skill or care, and get a good result. It also fattens up and volumises my lashes at the same time, which I really do need. If I use a mascara that's just lengthening, my lashes can still look pretty sparse and leave my eyes looking unframed.
It's a well pigmented, dark black mascara, and it separates and defines my lashes well with barely any sign of clumping. It gives me fluttery, fanned out, big lashes, and it lasts without smudging or flaking. It's hard to believe I know, but it ticks just about every box!

I really wish I'd tried this sooner (I blame the name again...) because I could have saved a lot of wasted money and frustration with other mascaras, as it truly is one of the best suited products I've found for my lack luster little lashes. I'd probably give this mascara full marks out of ten, if I wasn't still a little bit irked by the name... But hey if that's my only negative, then Too Faced did pretty well with this one!
The Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara costs £19 from Debenhams, Beauty Bay and Look Fantastic.
