New Glossy Plans for the “Marbleized” Wet Bar

It’s been a good run for what I called my boldest project to date AKA the wet bar…..

This was a really fun one and it got a lot of love in the form of blog posts, pins and similar projects inspired by it. So thank you all for that!

Some time last year, I ended up turning this into a coffee/beverage station because it wasn’t really getting used as a wet bar. I store all the glasses, cups and mugs in the top cabinets and teas, coffee capsules, etc. in the drawers and it’s been such a better use of the space.

I think that may be one of the reasons I started thinking about painting the cabinets a bright lacquer or high gloss. The faux marble thing was fun for a wet bar but for some reason in its current use, I can’t seem to get the idea of glossy cabinetry out of my head.

So….. this has started…..

Eeeeeek!

And the color I have in mind is…..

…..orange, of course!

Would you believe this was the only photo I could find of glossy orange cabinets? I guess that’s a good thing since I like to be original(!) But seriously, if you’ve seen any, please let me know as I’d love to see some other examples!

So I looked at a lot of orange paints, narrowed it down to three….

Benjamin Moore Orange Burst
Benjamin Moore Festive Orange
Valspar Island Orange

….. and ultimately decided on the Valspar Island Orange because it was the one that was the closest to the true orange I wanted.

The wallpaper is coming off of the walls too and I haven’t made up my mind about what I’ll do there yet. I have a few ideas including a different wallpaper, a mural or paint….. so we’ll see…..

This may sound like a (or another) crazy idea and that’s probably why I’m so excited about it. I’ll update you as things progress.

P.S. To Cindy who asked about how this wallpaper held up, it’s been great. It still looks perfect – which probably makes this latest plan sound even crazier!
