Top 10 Entryway Wallpapers

We’re on a bit of a foyer decorating tear with Wednesday’s The Best: Entryway Consoles and today’s Top 10 Foyer Wallpapers (see our top ten favorite kids room wallpapers here). The entryway is one of the best opportunites an apartment or house gets to use wallpaper. While a patterned wallpaper can overwhelm a living room or large bedroom, an entryway is the perfect place to make a statement with a wallcovering. There are a few (10 to be exact) specific wallpapers that we think are fool proof, always-chic papers, appropriate for just about any entryway. Drum roll please…

1. Claremont, Palm Stripe. This classic paper comes in some beautiful soft colors. It’s a great paper to use if you’re trying to emphasize the height of a room or to make low ceilings feel higher. We love how designer Markham Roberts employed it in this Nashville home, below.

2. F. Schumacher & Co, Feather Bloom. From designer Celerie Kemble’s line with Schumacher, this grasscloth patterned paper feels fresh and modern. The pattern itself is slightly dizzying so we recommend using it in a smaller scale foyer.

3. Farrow and Ball, Ringwold. This is one of our all time favorite Farrow & Ball wallpapers. In another foyer designed by Markham Roberts (he does such beautiful ones!), the Ringwold pattern is used in a custom color.

4. Nobilis, Faux Bois This is the entryway of our client Abby Larson’s home. We chose it because it is one of our favorite “patterned but not patterned” papers that really elevates and heightens. It was the perfect backdrop for all of the cheerful pops of color we used throughout the house.

5. Adelphi, Philadelphia Harlequin. We talked about our obsession with Adelphi wall coverings last week and couldn’t not include them in this round up.

6. de Gournay – I think we can all agree that walking into a foyer covered in de Gournay is essentially living the dream. This foyer by Jeffrey Bilhuber looks like something out of fairy tale.

7. F. Schumacher and Co, Imperial Trellis. A little bit preppy, a lot graphic, this classic Schumacher wallpaper that always gets the job done.

8. Farrow and Ball, Lotus. This wallpaper marries bold pattern with sophistication. Depending on the color way (and the setting), this paper reads either extremely elegant or graphic and modern.

9. Thibault, Bridgewater Damask. A modern take on a classic damask this Thibault paper is fresh and whimsical.

10. Zuber Wallpapers. Whether it be a floral chinoiserie panel or Greco-Roman cityscape, nothing transforms a wall into a work of art like a Zuber wallpaper. This is the foyer of an apartment we designed a few years ago that was the inspiration for the color scheme throughout.
