How To: Orlando Pita’s Horizontal Buns

For the Carolina Herrera Fall 2011 collections, Orlando Pita created these sleek horizontal
buns to
complement
the
graceful simplicity
of this
season’s
luxurious clothes.
“I wanted
the hair to look special
and
different
from
what
we’ve
seen
before,
especially since
it’s
all
about what
happens at
the back
of the
head,” Pita says. “For this season, I‘m feeling a strong move away from tousled, messy hair.” Fashion is definitely more dressed and polished and it’s dictating where hair is going. The looks are more controlled, healthy looking and shiny.” How To Create Pita’s Horizontal
Buns: Orlando Pita dried the models’ hair using a hair dryer, Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, and a round Moroccanoil Ceramic Ionic Brush. This created sleekness as well as added volume. “The Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream is great for that,” Pita says. “It makes the hair shiny and smooth but still gives it the right amount of hold and substance for updos. For models whose hair was dry or damaged, Pita first applied Moroccanoil Treatment to restore the hair’s condition. “It absorbs right in.” Pita then created a low part and pulls the hair back, letting one side sweep across the side of the face, making a small ponytail in the back. “I let strands hang down, then lifted them up, through and down, and attached it with pins at the fold. It looks tucked in, almost like an envelope,” Pita explains. The style is finished with a light spray of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to polish off the look and control any flyaways. What do you think of Orlando Pita’s horizontal
buns? Do you agree that the trend is moving away from messy/bedhead hair and toward dressy, polished looks? You can find Moroccanoil products exclusively at salons and spas and at moroccanoil.com.
