Hello Glasgow!

Yesterday I have arrived at my home for the next five months: Glasgow. After a week with Nate & Lucy in Sheffield and getting accustomed to living in Great Britain, I have taken the bus up north to Scotland. I’m both nervous and excited to start this new chapter, meeting new people and exploring a strange and beautiful country. I haven’t talked to many people yet, but it’s true: the scottish accent is HARD. I really hope I will get more than 50 percent of conversations soon.

Today was spend mostly relaxing from the journey yesterday and nestling into my new home. It’s ‘only’ student accommodation, so the decorating possiblities are a bit limited, but I’m going to give my best with charity shop finds, flowers and pictures on the walls. My roommate hasn’t moved in yet, so I have the whole flat to myself. The kitchen is actually bigger than at home in Germany, so I hope we will get on well and have a few cooking parties here.

Tomorrow I will head out and explore Glasgow for the first time. I definitely want to check out the West End with all its small cafés and charity shops and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery looks pretty amazing as well. Pictures will be shared! In general, I hope this little blog will be a little bit more active in the next few weeks, with travel posts and small student and expat life stories here and there. I’m off now, to catch the next episode of the British Bake-Off (yes, I am addicted. Good thing all the episodes are on the BBC iPlayer). Talk soon!

(All pictures are Sheffield and Paisley snapshots from my Instagram).
