A Temporary Solution in GFC's Absence

UPDATE 18/12/13: As many suspected, GFC widgets are back up and running this morning. I'm going to leave this post up in case it glitches again, or if like me you'd prefer to use this follow button rather than the regular widget. If you installed this button and you now want to remove it, simply remove the HTML code from wherever you placed it. If you had the normal GFC follow widget on your blog before, it should have reappeared as normal now!
*** A quick blog post today just to offer a temporary fix to get a working GFC widget on your blog. This morning, the regular widget seems to have disappeared from most people's blogs although the lack of announcement from Google HQ plus the fact everyone's posts are showing in my dashboard makes me think this is very much just a temporary glitch.

However - if you'd like a button to tide you over until they get it fixed, here's the coding I use for my widget:

You can install this just by pasting the code into an HTML/Javascript gadget you can add when you edit your blog's layout.
You can find your blog's ID here and you'll need to place it in place of mine within the code. You can install this just by pasting the code into an HTML/Javascript gadget you can add when you edit your blog's layout.
This is very much a quick solution but if you don't amass followers at the speed of light then I'd probably hang on for a little while longer whilst Google gets everything fixed. That being said it's as easy to undo as it is to install and I hope it helps if you decide to use it!

'https://ssl' : 'http://www') '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')(0); s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); //
