Mixing Fall Fabrics: Denim, Tweed, and Flannel

Greetings from Albuquerque, everyone. It’s hard to believe, but Rob and I have been on the road for an entire month. And today, I’m finally flying home for a brief second before heading to New York to shoot for an upcoming collaboration and then immediately on to Milan for some much needed R&R as well as a few meetings. One of the challenges of traveling so much is making sure we’ve got content in the can, which means we’ll shoot as much as possible before long trips like the one we’ve been on. Today’s look is one that we shot prior to leaving and mixes up a few of my favorite fall fabrics.

Get the Look

Fall is all about rich fabrics and textures. And mixing them together makes an outfit much more multidimensional. Let’s work from the outside in. A denim jacket is a true fall essential. Wear it in place of a blazer to give your workplace style a bit of an edge, or as a rugged “in-between” piece, as I’ve styled it here.

Never underestimate the power of a tweed waistcoat. As much as I love my tweed three-piece suit, it’s the waistcoat as a separate that often gets the most play. Now that it’s starting to get a bit cooler, a waistcoat will add just the right amount of additional insulation.

I run fairly hot, in general, so I’m always excited when we hit late fall and early winter so I can finally break my favorite flannel button down. I picked mine up a couple years ago, but here is a very similar style.
