Inspired By Photos & Words in Book Form

Given my recent preparations for the new blog, I’ve been thinking a lot about design, layout, graphics, and the like. This new online project will, in fact, be a blog, and the inherit home of such a thing is, after all, a website. As such, my mind is stuck on typeface and layout repeat… always looking for the next most interesting combination or layering. Then, a few weeks ago, I came across this book at Half Price Books, my all time favorite place to get lost for an afternoon. The combination of poetry, type, and abstracted photography was inspiring at just the right moment! Then I started to notice something peculiar. Apparently, there are a lot of great books out there with inspiring graphic design! So, I’m pouring through my collection of hard bound materials in a last minute attempt to cover as much published ground as possible. Why didn’t I think of this earlier? (note to self, crack open those art books you’ve been hoarding for years a little more often.)
