hazel 3 months & some encouragement.

first off, my little baby is growing like a weed! she’s got chins that don’t quit and moving right out of her 3 month clothes into her 6 month. she’s getting close to rolling over and even sat in her bumbo for a few minutes today. girl’s got a strong neck on her!

we are very happy to have our sweet baby feeling stronger, because there for a week or so before Christmas, her seizures were getting out of control and we were having to give her a lot of strong medicine that made her weak and groggy. after our last hospital stay and visit with the neurologist, we continued to increase her medications and went from 0.5 ml to 2.0 ml (twice a day) in a pretty short time period. this week we are FINALLY seeing some real progress on containing the seizures and reducing the occurrences and duration of each. for the past 3 days, she’s only had about 4 each day. there are still a few times where she has a couple of twitches or stares off briefly, but compared to the 20 /day she was having a week or so ago, we are very encouraged by this progress.

it is understood, though, that as she continues to grow (which is like every five seconds), the medicine dosages will continue to change. the doctors are still not completely satisfied until there are no seizures and no side effects. thankfully, at least so far, there don’t seem to be any side effects on the medicines she is on. she is happy and alert and has some pretty good coordination while grabbing for and playing with her dangling toys.

thank you for your continued prayers. these are some of the specifics that we would appreciate prayers for:

–that the meds would continue to work and stop the seizures completely

–that hazel will continue to develop appropriately physically and mentally

–that God will provide peace for our financial uncertainties with the incoming medical bills

we have, as a family, felt so loved and cared for during this whole time. thank you if you have had any part in making that happen! we love and appreciate you so much!!
