Vintage airliner visits Santa Teresa; flights start Thursday – Las Cruces Sun-News

(AP) – Marjorie Taylor said she enjoys making weird clothing. She has created an elaborate costume for the 2008 Slug Queen Marie Antoinette Slugtoinette and her designs have been featured at Eugene’s Fashion Week. Most recently, the 62-year-old Taylor wanted to make a Valentine’s Day-themed dress to display in the window of her downtown Eugene boutique, Velvet Edge. She wanted the dress to be fun and not overly romantic. Taylor’s quirky taste led her to purchase online 160 decks of used casino playing cards. She used only the hearts cards – about 1,500 of them – and sewed them onto a poofy circle skirt she bought at Nobody’s Baby, a vintage clothing shop. To make the dress, she folded the cards over to create a rounded, pointed edge – or a “porcupine feel,” as Taylor described it – and stapled the cards in the back to hold them in place.

Plus, unlike a lot of jet services that are limited to small fleets, JetSmarter has more than3,000 registered planes in its database, so whether you want to book an unused leg on an empty jetor create acustom itinerary for yourGulfstream ($100,000 ), you’re covered. It’s like hailing a taxi.

Fashion Hits And Misses From The 2015 Grammy Awards

“Hipster” is a fairly meaningless word that can describe any number of cultural stereotypes, many of which have little in common with each other. But two that tend to resonate are the person who’s obsessed with having the latest version of everythingfrom technology to clothes to whatever weirdness is being Kickstarted this weekand the one who lives in a little bubble of retro/vintage crap that their grandparents threw out. Both types of person get sent-up in Seth Worley ‘s short film, Old/New, which stars Ben Worley as a hip fella obsessed with the cutting edgeuntil he meets a young lady who shows him the glory of vintage things, leaving him chasing old records, vintage clothing, and falling-apart houses. The film is narrated, with Seussical verve, by Patton Oswalt, who tells the story of Worley’s character in AA/BB rhyme. Old/New, released by VFX software company Red Giant, is just the latest short from Seth Worley, whose previous credits include Spy Vs.
