My most reached-for makeup products: Face {part 1}

Purchased/Affiliate Links

It’s been way too long since I’ve shared the makeup products in my daily rotation. And seriously, there is SO MUCH wrong with that sentence. If you’ve followed my blog for awhile, you might know that I tend to fall into makeup ruts- you know, those phases when you reach for nearly the same products every day (out of convenience? preference? who knows), and you start to not really care about switching it up. I will always be a firm believer in the power of neutrals, so it can be hard to break away!

Since I started my first full-time, “big girl” job, I’ve found that many areas in my life are falling into routine. I eat the same things most days, work out at the same time each night, and yep, you guessed it, gravitate toward many of the same makeup products each morning! That said, I thought it might be fun to share my most-reached for makeup products with you guys. I’ll be breaking up these posts into product categories, starting today with face products.

Please keep reading to see what’s in my daily face rotation!

My most reached-for makeup products: Face

  1. Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush ($24.00): I used to rotate between this and the ELF Studio Powder Brush, but as much as I’d like to recommend a $3 option, I just don’t think it performs nearly as well as Sigma’s. The F80 hype is real: I can guarantee flawless application of foundation every time I use this brush (as long as my skin is prepped as needed).
  2. Real Techniques Blush Brush ($8.99): I LOVE the versatility of this blush brush- I use it interchangeably for blush and contour/bronzer. It’s soft, fluffy and distributes the right amount of product onto my cheeks. It’s not so great at precise application, though, so if you have a smaller cheek area or want a really defined blush look, I’d recommend looking into the ELF Studio Blush Brush.
  3. MAC Painterly Paint Pot ($21.00): There are lots of matte beige-colored highlights/correctors on the market now, but I’m so happy to have Painterly in my collection. It’s so incredibly long wearing and can work double duty as an eyeshadow base or concealer in a pinch. See more of my thoughts on this HERE.
  4. Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation ($12.99): This one is a a bit of a surprise, as I actually didn’t love this foundation when I first reviewed it- it’s also the reason this post isn’t called “My current favorite face products.” Stay Fabulous is probably one of the best drugstore foundations I’ve tried: it has GREAT coverage, the matte finish makes your face look flawless, and it truly lasts through the work day. Personally, due to the extremely matte (flat) finish, I find myself needing to use some type of highlighter to give my skin some *life*.
  5. NARS Oasis Blush ($30.00): I feel almost silly how many times I’ve talked about Oasis on the blog! Let’s just say you can read my <3 for this little blush HERE, HERE and HERE. (I know how expensive it is, and I’m sorry- ask for it as a gift and you WILL NOT regret it!)
  6. MAC Taupe Blush (LE, $22.00): Taupe has become my go-to contour shade- I contour on a daily basis now because of this little product! I’m sad to say this was limited edition, but you might have something similar in your collection. I reviewed this in detail HERE.
  7. L’Oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer ($12.99): I saved the best for last! I recently rediscovered and fell head over heels for this highlighter (you can also use it underneath foundation as a primer). If you prefer highlighters that gift your skin a soft “glow,” Magic Lumi is for you. I wear this everyday on my cheekbones and just LOVE. My favorite way to apply it is with the ELF Studio Small Stipple Brush.
