Decorating Project Preview

If you read my basement purging post, I am happy to report that I have made progress, so much so that it has taken up a lot of my time, time that I would have been busy finishing projects to share with you.

Even though the process has kept me away from the fun and pretty decorating projects I like to share, it feels good to get the basement decluttering process going. Dumping the contents of every box and bag in the middle of the floor helped me to really weed out the stuff that is no longer needed. I still have a way to go and will be showing you everything I am doing to get it neat and organized in a week or two.

Since I don’t have any projects completed to post today, I thought I would give you a little preview of what I am working on. Some of the projects are small while others are bigger and more time consuming projects… like this one…

…Stripping the paint off the big armoire (AKA..my craft supply closet). If you remember, about a year ago I was thinking about painting it, but after lots of thought, I decided is was worth the time to strip. I have stripped a spot to see what I am up against – lots of orange and beige paint, but it is doable. It is gonna take ALOT of Citrastrip to get all the layers of paint off.

Then I have been meaning to do this….

The floor in my mudroom has been waiting for a painted rug since we had the floors refinished. Life and other projects keep getting in the way of me getting it started. I have all the supplies and it is even primed. I just need to do it now. It is going to be very colorful.

See the unfinished IKEA stool? It is going to get a paint makeover this weekend at a paint workshop I am going to attend.

A smaller project that I dearly want done is painting my bedroom dresser. I can’t decide on a color. I am waiting until I get the walls repainted, then I will make the final decision. Most likely in the blue family.

My studioffice used to have a neutral color scheme back before I began blogging. The skirt that hides my sewing machine is the last decorating project that needs to be updated from that era. I just ordered new fabric for it that I am sooooo excited about. I kinda splurged on it, but it was exactly what I was looking for. It should come next week. I can’t wait to show you it after I get it sewn.

Tomorrow I am excited to go to a milk paint workshop with Marian of Miss Mustard Seed. It was postponed last weekend since it snowed here in Pennsylvania. No snow in the forecast until Monday, so I think the workshop is on. YAY! I have never painted with milk paint and am excited to learn how from the master herself. I will post about that next week.

Until then…

Happy weekend! It is going to be a cold one…Brrrrrr!!!!
