finding balance in social media

I’ve attempted to write this post more times than I’d like to admit. It’s not an unusual occurrence. I begin writing, then get distracted…by whatever it may be: Twitter, Pinterest, my own thoughts, and never-ending to-do lists. I say this because I am not a perfect portrait of balance. Like most people, my life is full and often overflowing. I struggle to say no and I put too much on my plate. I can usually be found constantly checking my iPhone for updates.

Yet there are also days when I rarely or never check social media…days where I take the time to, whether intentionally or not, get back in tune with my own inner voice and the person I want to be. I find those days to be ultimately the most refreshing.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by social media? You’re not alone! Whether you have 2 or 200 people listening, I think balance is crucial for a happy life.

I am by no means an expert, but as a blogger and frequent social media user, I’ve come to learn a few things to remain present (and sane) as the presence of social media seems to change and evolve by the minute. I wrote some tips for finding balance in social media over on The Neighborhood. Head on over to check it out!

I’d love to hear if you have any thoughts in the comments. Social media can be a love/hate relationship but in the end I think it is meant to be used and enjoyed and used to enhance our lives in positive ways. When it starts to feel like a burden or drain of energy, I try and take a step back, because isn’t daily life far more important?

Hope you’re having a great start to your week!
