Half and Half

So! Now I’m all settled in to my new home and you’ve had a chance to nosy around, let’s get back to regular programming with an outfit post. Shall we?

Many years ago when I was in college, there was a girl in my Sociology class who, come rain or shine, wore sandals and a scarf. I remember telling my more academically-gifted friends (who were in Applied Maths or whatever) how stupid this combination was – why bother wearing a scarf if your toes are exposed to the elements?

And now I’m eating my words, because mixing cosy woollens with more summery pieces is my new favourite thing.

The sun is still shining here in Leeds, but there’s a definite nip in the air. Rather than freeze in my summer wardrobe or sweat it out in too-early layers, I’ve discovered a handy combination of the two – bare legs and chunky knits. These silk shorts haven’t got nearly enough wear this summer so I’m very happy I have a few more weeks before they’re packed away until next year.

I loved wearing this outfit. I felt super stylish without being too ‘dressed up’ – I’m casual to the core so this was the perfect combination of laidback cool. Next up – a bikini with wellies?
