Union Public House

Saturday started real lazy. We (le bf) had plans to go to Biosphere 2 but we slept in until about 2:00 pm. We are a bit of night owls. Tucson weather has been really nice and warm, although, it’s beginning to get into the hot summer months. I’m really dreading it. Waking up late we were definitely hungry, so he thought of eating at a Jamaican spot. We stopped by Starbucks to hold me over a bit and headed down to the University of Arizona. The shopping center right in front has an Urban Outfitters so I wanted to check out the sale rack. Lot’s of cute things but with my wardrobe plan in mind. I stayed mindful of simple pieces. I was able to get a white bralette on sale for $10. After we started to head to the the Jamaican spot, however, he wanted to go to a nice place with outdoor seating. We ended up an Union Public House restaurant – pub, and bar that is dedicated to uncompromising quality, featuring made-from-scratch American fare with local ingredients.

The atmosphere and design is pretty cool. They had metal chairs, exposed brick. Felt very relaxing. We decided to sit outside as planned. It was a bit windy but the place was pretty empty during that time. The selection of food and drinks were amazing.

I’ve been really into mules. I ordered a Brazilian Mule, which they use Acai liqueur. It was the best mule I had! I also tried the Mexican mule, which was perfection as well. He ordered a Bloody Mary that had a piece of bacon in it. I don’t like drinks that are spicy so I didn’t care for it. Apparently, our waiter A.J stated that he has worked there for 6 months and no one has ordered that drink from him before. Supposedly, they stopped making it a while ago, but he was able to have it ordered.

For the quality of food and drinks the price was reasonably priced. I’m sure a place like that in San Diego would cost a few dollars more. We shared an order of a burger and fries and an appetizer of crab cakes. I finally have a favorite restaurant in Tucson!
