Foundation Series (4): Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide

2014 saw the arrival of Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide. True to its name, it is a watery formula that has to be shaken to waken it (as all the ingredients separate). Also there are a whopping 24 shades available so surely there must be one to suit everyone.

Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide is an oil-free foundation that promises to blur the line between real skin and make-up, leaving a matte finish. How? The secret is the revolutionary bi-phase, two part formula is designed to deliver the most natural looking colour and lightweight coverage. Colour true pigments rest at the bottom while reflective waters (Hydro-Brilliant Technology) float to the top. Yeah…fancy! Vigorously shaking the package to activate before each use ensures the pigments blend with the reflective waters to create fresh colour every time.

I was matched with Buff which was a touch too light at the time (this was about 4-5 months ago following the fine summer weather we had). In the colder months, like many, my skin tone changes and so Buff is better suited to me during the winter season.

It’s taken me this long to post my thoughts on this foundation as I couldn’t make up my mind about whether I hated it or didn’t think much of it. Now I’ve warmed to Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide. OK this picture was taken with a flashgun (I have been rushed off my feet and consequently short of time) but in the day time its appearance is better. There is no SPF in this so no white face from the camera flash.

Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide is available from Harrods’ Urban Retreat in store and online for £34.

Coverage: Semi
Verdict: A grower – ideal for natural looking skin and extremely lightweight
