MATT TIGER

Act I

(The Rabbit family are in the living room. Momma Rabbit is helping Lily with her homework, Daddy Rabbit is reading some work papers, and Grandma Rabbit is knitting a sweater. Roland Rabbit is on the floor playing with some toys)

ROLAND RABBIT: (to Lily). Do you want to play hide and seek?

LILY: Sorry Roland, I’m doing my homework.

ROLAND RABBIT: What about you, mom?

MOMMA RABBIT: I can’t, your sister really needs help today!.

ROLAND RABBIT: Oh, I understand , I’ll ask Dad. ( to His dad) Daddy, would you play hide and seek with me?

DADDY RABBIT: Roland, I’m really busy right now. I have a meeting in five minutes, in fact, I have to go now. (he stands up and leaves).

ROLAND RABBIT: (to Grandma). Grandma, will you play with me?.

GRANDMA RABBIT: I’m too old to play!.

ROLAND RABBIT: Ok.

GRANDMA RABBIT: Why don’t you ask your friends!

ROLAND RABBIT: What a good idea! (to his mom) Mom, can I go to the park, my friends are playing baseball right now.

MOMMA RABBIT: Sure, go ahead!

ROLAND RABBIT: Yeah! (he kisses his mom on the cheek and leaves)

Act II

(John Horse, Candy Cat, Danny Dog, Susy Sheep, and Matt Tiger are playing baseball. Roland approaches them).

ROLAND RABBIT: Hi! Do you want to play hide and seek!

(they stop playing)

CANDY CAT: Oops! I have to study for my spelling test! (she leaves)

ROLAND RABBIT: How come nobody wants to play with me today!

JOHN HORSE: I really want to, but I have a dentist appointment, sorry. (he leaves)

DANNY DOG: Oh, I forgot ! I have to help grandmother bake cookies, see you tomorrow at school! (he leaves in a hurry)

SUSY SHEEP: Please, don’t be mad at us, we’re busy today. (she leaves)

ROLAND: (to Matt Tiger) You’re leaving too, right?

MATT TIGER: Hmmm… yeah… we’ll play some other day.

ROLAND RABBIT: (sad). Sure…we’ll play some other day.

MATT TIGER: Bye… go home Roland. (he leaves)

(he leaves sadly)

ACT III

(Roland enters his house. His family and friends are in the living room. There are balloons, paper plates, cups, napkins, and a birthday cake on a table).

EVERYBODY: Surprise!

ROLAND: What!

EVERYBODY: (singing) Happy Birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Roland. Happy birthday to you!. (they hug Roland)

ROLAND: Oh, I don’t know what to say! You planned a surprised party for me?

LILY: Yes…and we’re sorry we had to lie.

ROLAND RABBIT: That’s fine…thank you, I love you all!

EVERYBODY: We love you too!

(music plays, and they begin to dance)
