WANDERLUST WEDNESDAY: INDIA

Taj Mahal
I don't know exactly why, but ever since I watch "A Little Princess" as a little girl I've had this fascination with India that I can't explain. I painted my room using colors that reminded me of India, bought elephant figurines and dreamed of the Taj Mahal. Why? No idea. But is it really any surprise that the Taj Mahal is the first place I listed on this week's Wanderlust Wednesday? Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites this giant white marble architecture really just embodies the spirit of India for me. And so photogenic, I can't wait to see it in person.

Darjeeling
Have you seen The Darjeeling Limited? I have. Sprawling tea plantations spread out across steep hills spotted with Buddhist monasteries and overlooked by the massive Himalayans in the background. I would love to enjoy a nice cup of tea brewed right on one of those plantations and just look out over everything.

Camel Safari
CAMEL SAFARI!! If you say no to a camel safari there's something wrong with you. Unless you have an allergy, then that's alright I guess. There are tons of options of companies you can do this through but I was looking at Pushkar Safari which offers half day, full day and overnight safaris where you can SLEEP UNDER THE STARS!! That sounds amazing to me. Let's be honest, I'd probably end up in a tent anyway, but I would like the option to sleep under the stars. If I ever had a bucket list, a camel safari would be pretty far up that list.

Kerala Backwaters
With over 900km of interconnected waterways, the Kerala backwaters seems like it's own country entirely. Lagooons, lakes, hillside resorts, estuaries, hidden beaches, waterfront chapels, you name it. Most often explored via the Kerala signature house boats which look flat out luxurious. There are so many different areas you can explore depending on what you're looking for. Be it historic architecture, wildlife, beautiful beaches, whatever it is you're looking for - there's a backwater tour for you.

Jaipur Bazaars
And lastly, if you've been following my Wanderlust Wednesday posts you know that I'm a sucker for local markets so it comes as no surprise that the Jaipur market made it on my list. Also known as the Pink City, Jaipur's markets boats beautiful jewelry, handmade footwear, clothing, quilts. And their massive! There are so many different markets, or bazaars as they're more commonly referred to, covering the streets of Jaipur and I can't wait to get lost in them.
