Dissecting the Details: Andrew Howard

Hello lovely LDV readers! Nancy of Marcus Design here, back with another edition of Dissecting the Details. Today, I’m examining the work of Florida-based designer Andrew Howard. More specifically, I was quite smitten with his kitchen designs and how he consistently creates a bright, tailored, and functional space. Let’s take a closer look at 5 key elements Andrew implements in his kitchens.
I’m a real fan of the built-in banquette; not only does it look chic, but it also saves space and brings a fantastic opportunity to introduce multiple textiles to the kitchen.
Andrew utilizes large upholstered stools in many of his kitchen designs, they are a soft spot to perch and yet another opportunity for pattern, color, and texture through fabrics.
I simply adore the show-stopping fixtures Andrew selects for each of his projects; whether brass paired pendants, groupings, or even flush mount ceiling fixtures, they all capture well-deserved attention. It’s like adding jewelry to the space!
Tailored details like this coiffured ceiling and panelled wall truly make the space. When good bones exist in a room, it can make the design sing!
Lastly, there is one definite design detail that cannot go unmentioned; every kitchen in this post includes various shades of the color blue. Appropriately so, Andrew’s designs reflect the influence of the Florida ocean and lends a coastal-chic meets tailored-traditional vibe to each of these spaces.
