A few months ago, One Kings Lane published a feature on New York-based interior designer Michelle Smith of Studio MRS. I remember loving the warmth and chic-meets-cozy look of her living room at the time, so I was happy to come across a different set of photos of the room featuring a few alternate pieces and styled a bit differently. While completely neutral, the color palette is accented by tonal variations of similar colors along with pops of blue from the lovely rug. I like that the room features a striking, oversized piece of art as well as a mix of furniture from various periods and in varying styles. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore’s Gray Mist– a pretty and versatile shade of gray that I’ve used before with great results. Stacks of books are at home with vintage lamps, antiques, and an interesting assortment of art and objets, creating a warm and highly personal environment– exactly what home should be!
