Jet Set: The Mercer Hotel in Barcelona

Hello LDV readers! Brendan here of B.A.D | Blog About Design. For today’s Jet Set post I wanted to take us to the beautiful city of Barcelona, Spain. This vibrant city has a mix of old world charm and 21st century energy. The Mercer Hotel is located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The hotel is designed within a historical monument by architect Rafael Moneo. When you walk through the hotel you can see many of the original architectural details of the historical monument. (ABOVE) The massive wooden doors open up into a light and airy lobby space.

(ABOVE) The lobby is very calm and relaxing. There is a wonderful mix of old world and modern architecture and design. The large windows face out onto the courtyard and offer plenty of light.

(ABOVE) Another view of the lobby shows the wonderful medieval brick work and archways.

(ABOVE) What a beautiful courtyard off of the lobby. I really love the various plantings both in ground and in the planters.

(ABOVE) At the Mercer you have the choice of 5 different types of suites. The Premium Junior suite as shown above is one of the more luxurious suites. I like the simplicity of the suite, it’s very simple and not overcrowded with furniture.

(ABOVE) This outdoor space is off of the Premium Junior Suite. I’m in love with the two armchairs, what strong pieces!

(ABOVE) It’s very beautiful how the mirror is carved into the original medieval brick. As a guest of the Premium Junior Suite you will also receive a package of Molton Brown toiletries.
