【故事簡介】： 主人公瀨川祐太是考入多摩文學院大學文學系國文科，開始踏入新生活的大學一年級學生。小學的時候與父母死別，受到當時為高中生的姐姐祐理所養育，祐理中學的時候和曾離過兩次婚、帶著2個孩子的小鳥遊信吾再結婚。祐太因為嫉妒姐姐和信吾組成的家庭，但是並不想破壞他們的幸福生活，於是獨自一人遠離了姐姐一家，身居於外。有一天，姐姐突然登訪自己家並拜託照顧這三個孩子（「空」、「美羽」、「雛」）。祐太雖然勉強地接受了這個請求，照料3個女兒時意外地看到了祐太從未見過的幸福生活，開始後悔當時因為嫉妒姐姐結婚而逃避現實的想法。打算歸還以前的忘恩負義的感情，決意重新修復姐姐一家的關係。再一天，姐姐和姐夫搭乘的飛機離奇失蹤，姐姐和姐夫因行蹤未明被政府發布已死亡的通告。剩下的3個女兒在親屬會議後決定分離各所，祐太卻執意宣言收養剩下的3個女兒，為此6榻榻米一間的公寓里開始了嶄新的4人生活。
