Stress Management Tips

This week I’ve been too stressed. Not the cute kind of stress where you just complain about being stressed. The type where you’re over the top about everything; can’t sleep, anxiety is at an all time high, on the verge of tears. Yah, that kind of unhealthy stress.

When stress is effecting life with these types of negative reactions, it’s time to take care of it. Stress is definitely a large contributor in the todays health problems, and I think it’s definitely something we don’t focus enough on.

Don’t put off managing your stress levels because in the long run it will lead you right into a whole lot of other negative issues. I happen to have a lovely type A personality, so I definitely put stress on myself for minuscule things. Here are just a few of my favorite stress management tips…

Take a bath and light some candles. Something about this ritual is just so relaxing to me and my personal favorite.

Bake something you’ve had your eye on. Just make sure you’re not stress eating. That’s not good either.

Write out a to-do list. This may be my type A personality coming out to play, but I find that when I have a plan in motion on being more productive, chances are I actually will be more productive.

Take care of yourself. Put on some makeup, dress in your cutest clothes, get out and be social; just do anything to get out of your own head.

Read a good book (I probably wouldn’t suggest a stressful book – like a mystery or thriller (just sayin’)

Watch a funny movie.

Get your heart rate up with some light activity. Try yoga, going for a walk, or some stretching.

Make a warm drink. Hot chocolate or tea are the best comfort drinks, in my opinion.

Look through facebook photos from years ago and laugh at your old outfit choices. Seriously, this one works like a charm. I had some bad style choices back in the day y’all.

Call a friend or family member. Chances are, they will be able to give you the best advice since they know you the best.

I think overall, the most important thing to remember is that you are the only you in this world, which means it’s up to you to take care of yourself. And taking care of yourself properly always feels pretty good.
