Notable New Releases: February 2015

February looks like it’s going to be a tremendous month for new releases, particularly for historical fiction fans. Kristin Hannah takes readers to WWII-era France in The Nightingale, while Hazel Gaynor tells the story of young woman in 1910s London (A Memory of Violets). Andrea Chapin takes on Shakespeare and his muse in The Tutor, and historian Alison Weir is back with a new novel of Elizabeth I, The Marriage Game. Kate Alcott has a new novel, A Touch of Stardust, that recreates the sets, the stars, and the drama surrounding the filming of Gone with the Wind as she observes the relationship between Clark Gable and Carole Lombard through the eyes of a Hollywood newcomer. And Dewey Lambdin continues Alan Lewrie’s naval adventures with the twenty-first book in the series, Kings and Emperors. Additionally, there are new literary works from Stephanie Kegan (Golden State) and Anne Tyler (A Spool of Blue Thread), as well as story collections from Katherine Heiny (Single, Carefree, Mellow) and Jonathan Lethem (Lucky Alan: And Other Stories), plus a new anthology combining otherworldly stories by Poe, Franz Kafka, and Joyce Carol Oates (The Uncanny Reader, edited by Marjorie Sandor). And that’s just from the “Fiction & Literature” category of my little round-ups. Get ready for a big month of exciting new reads, bookworms!

Notable New Releases is a monthly series highlighting a hand-picked selection of new books in American publishing. My goal is to provide a place for readers to get a glimpse at some of the new titles available, to keep up with their most anticipated books of the year and hopefully find a new read (or two or three) along the way. Notable New Releases is a one-woman show and publication dates are always subject to change. If there’s a book coming out in future months that you’d like to see included in the series, recommendations are always welcome!
